Westerville City Schools Students Place at Ohio History Day Statewide Competition

Westerville City Schools students participated in the Ohio History Day Competition on April 29 at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.  Projects followed the theme “Taking a Stand.”  Five pupils received awards:

  • Third place, Junior Group Documentary:  Emma Snyder, Dilara Sen, and Laura Wolfe, for Alice Hamilton.  Genoa Middle School, Drew Farrell and Deanna McDaniel, teachers.
  • Honorable Mention, Junior Individual Website:  Kyra Lesmerises, for Rachel Carson:  How One Woman and One Book Saved Our Environment.  Genoa Middle School, Caley Nestor-Baker and Deanna McDaniel, teachers.
  • Third place, Junior Individual Website:  Xiaowen Li, Into Living Perdition: The Story of Witold Pilecki.  Walnut Springs Middle School, Pat Schirtzinger and Jean Trimble, teachers.
