Walnut Springs 7th grade Advanced Language Arts class performs Reader’s Theater Presentations at Barnes & Noble.

As part of the 7th grade advanced language arts class taught by Tammy Saltzmann, Walnut Springs students have been creating their own reader’s theater scripts based on different themes of the novels they have read.  Poetry, non-fiction, student writing, and lyrics are brought in to complement the novel’s theme.  From there, the script is woven together.  Simple props, choreography, and shared voices give added emphasis to enhance the script and the presentation of the written works.

The project was supported by the Westerville City Schools Gifted Education Department. Special thanks to Barnes & Noble Booksellers at Polaris Fashion Place, which shared their stage with the students and also facilitated a book fair for the school.
