All Westerville City School District middle school parents are invited to attend a College and Career Readiness Night at Walnut Springs Middle School, which is located at 888 East Walnut Street. The event will take place on Tuesday evening, March 1, with a focus on conveying valuable information about topics to help plan for student success in high school and beyond.
Attendees are encouraged to arrive between 6:00 – 6:20 p.m. to select up to three sessions they would like to join. Session 1 will be held from 6:35 – 7:00 p.m.; Session 2 from 7:05 – 7:30 p.m.; and Session 3 from 7:35 to 8:00 p.m. Each presentation will be offered during all three times slots. Topics to be covered, subject to change, are:
- NUMATS - Eric Calvert will discuss opportunities for Gifted and Talented students on behalf of Northwestern University’s Midwest Academic Talent Search.
- How to Beat the High Cost of College - A conversation that goes beyond the typical financial aid talk. Find the most financial support to fund college, regardless of your financial situation.
- AP Program - Leslie Baumann will walk you through Advanced Placement opportunities available to students at each of Westerville’s high schools.
- High School 101 - Julie Taylor presents a general overview of high school opportunities in Westerville.
- IB - Bill Heinmiller will detail information about Westerville South’s International Baccalaureate program.
- College Credit Plus - Anne Baldwin will talk about options for students interested in earning college credit during their high school experience.
- Project Lead the Way Health and Engineering Pathways - Lyndsey Manzo will explain Westerville City School’s Career Pathways related to science.
- Delaware Career Center North Campus - Lisa-Marie Reinhardt represents the Delaware Area Career Center and will share what programs are available to rising high school students in the years ahead.
- Columbus Area Career Centers at Fort Hayes and Columbus Downtown High School - Christy Manson and Peegan Cleary will impart information about career training opportunities at Fort Hayes and the Columbus Downtown High School.
- INFOhio Learning Express Library - Jean Trimble will review research tools and premium databases that students and parents will find useful, as well as an Ohio Means Jobs portal.
