On Friday, October 18, the Westerville City School District will be participating in a Full Scale Safety Drill involving local first responders. The safety exercise will involve multiple locations within our district and simulate an emergency situation that requires a coordinated response by key emergency responders. The activity is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. and conclude at approximately 11 a.m.
The exercise will occur in and around the grounds of Walnut Springs Middle School. It also will involve the use of nearby church properties located in the City of Westerville and Genoa Township. None of our students are in class this day due to staff professional development, so this exercise will not impact a school day for our students. If you happen to be in the area on Friday, October 18, and see what appears to be a crisis situation unfolding, please do not be alarmed.
