Middle School Chess Tournament Winners Revealed

Students at Genoa and Heritage middle schools are invited to participate in school-wide chess activities leading to a chess tournament held at each building in the spring.  After a variety of very exciting and well played building matches, results were announced.

  • From Genoa Middle School – A.J. Boyd (grade 7), winner; Andy Wang (7), second place; Bryce Wilson (6), third; and Niko Belov (6), fourth.
  • From Heritage Middle School – Shrey Shyamalan (7), winner; Sammy Gurgiolo (7), second; Andrew Needham (6), third; and Adam Miracle (7), fourth. 

Chess is a researched-based way to have fun and make friends from all backgrounds, develop logical thinking, improve concentration and memory, and promote imagination and creativity.
