Heritage Middle School recently inducted 37 students into the National Junior Honor Society.

On Tuesday, September 11, Heritage Middle School inducted its inaugural group of 8th grade students into the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS).  Following the guidelines established by the national organization, 37 pupils completed a rigorous application process, which included having a 3.75 GPA as well as describing how they have demonstrated scholarship, leadership, service, character and citizenship.  Students also had to ask three staff members for letters of recommendation.  The youngsters will be electing officers in October and then setting the standard for NJHS groups of the future by creating and facilitating service and leadership projects throughout the school year.  In February, both 7th and 8th grade pupils who are eligible will have the opportunity to apply for induction.

“We are looking forward to this bright new chapter at Heritage Middle School,” said Principal Dru Tomlin.
