Incoming Heritage sixth grade students had lots of fun learning about how things will work in middle school.
On July 17, from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Heritage Middle School opened its doors to upcoming sixth graders for the #HuskyStrong Transition Camp. This event brought together more than 60 students from several feeder elementary schools, including Robert Frost, Annehurst, Pointview, Hawthorne, and Hanby, so they could engage in fun, informative activities about middle school life with Heritage teachers and staff. In small learning cohorts, youngsters embarked on a building scavenger hunt, talked about scenarios with the school resource officer, worked on team-building activities, and competed in Minute-to-Win-It games, a Locker Relay, and an exciting Husky Trivia Challenge. In addition to concluding their day with pizza and receipt of an awesome #HuskyStrong Class of 2025 t-shirt, pupils ultimately received a transition camp experience that was (in the words of one camper) “pretty radical, really fun and told me a lot.” Heritage plans to continue this new tradition next summer.
