The ninth annual Central Ohio 8th Grade Battle of the Books Competition, hosted by Heritage Middle School, took place at Westerville North High School on Thursday, March 22.  Each of Westerville’s four middle schools competed, along with other Central Ohio teams from Delaware, Olentangy, and Teays Valley.  Teams buzzed in with correct answers about titles from an 18-book list in a Jeopardy-style contest.

The competition celebrates reading a wide genre of great books. Westerville readers earned high honors with Blendon Middle School winning first place (Coach Brianna Swanson), followed by Genoa in second place (Coach Deanna McDaniel), Walnut Springs third (Coaches Julie Doel and Jean Trimble), and Heritage fourth (Coaches Kris Konik and Debbie Pellington).  All competitors enjoyed a pizza party following the award ceremony.

The event was supported by the middle schools and the Gifted Education Department.
