Under the direction of Kellie Sheely and Kimberly Marcum, the Heritage Middle School Drama Club presented Hairspray Jr. at 7:30 p.m. on March 17, 18, and 19.  The event is taking place in the Westerville North High School auditorium, which is located at 950 County Line Road.  General admission is $7 and tickets will be available at the door.

You can’t stop the beat in this big and bold adaptation of the Tony Award-winning musical about one girl’s inspiring dream to dance and change the world.  The songs include 1960s-style dance music and downtown rhythm and blues.  Hairspray, a social commentary on the injustices of parts of American society in the 1960s, follows the story of Tracy Turnblad, a bubbly, plus-sized teen with a stylish “do.”  She chases her dream of dancing on the hit Corny Collins Show, snatches the heartthrob Link Larkin, and ultimately fights for integration.  With upbeat and catchy tunes like Good Morning Baltimore, Mama, I’m a Big Girl Now, and You Can’t Stop the Beat, this musical is a treat for all ages.
