Heritage Middle School (HMS) students showed the community their Husky PRIDE by hosting a food drive for Caring and Sharing in early December.  Pupils wanted to be sure families had enough to eat over winter break, and donated more than 400 boxed and canned food items.

HMS’ Service Club led the drive and learned the importance of food donations.  Teacher leaders of Service Club (Sarah Amy, Kris Konik, Nicole Wermert, and Kristin Marks) arranged for volunteers from Caring and Sharing to come to the school to educate students about who the non-profit serves in the community, along with the importance of what they do.

Club members made signs to hang around the school and encouraged family, friends and fellow students to bring in non-perishable food items.  They also set up a competition between homerooms. The homeroom students who brought in the most canned goods will get a special breakfast in January.
