For three hours on Wednesday afternoon, August 26, the Westerville City School District partnered with Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH) and its Mobile Care Center to offer a full range of immunizations required for children entering kindergarten, along with the latest Tdap shots needed for current and incoming middle school students.  Families were also welcomed to schedule well-checks and the doctor and nurse in the unit addressed illness concerns as time allowed.  Scheduling appointments in advance was encouraged, but the Mobile Care Center was also prepared to accommodate as many walk-ups as time would allow.  Approximately 20 students were served that afternoon.  The Care Mobile is available to assist all who do not have a medical home, and no one is ever turned away due to financial hardship.  Former health aide Kathy Hayman, now serving as secretary/registrar at Blendon Middle School, organized the event.
