The Genoa Middle School MATHCOUNTS team finished fifth at the State Competition held at Columbus State Community College on Saturday, March 9.  The team is comprised of four students - Alicia Deng, Noah Gibson, A.J. Boyd, and Rohan Mawalkar.  Boyd earned 16th place and Mawalkar earned 27th place individually in the state rankings.  Parent Anindita Ghosh, who volunteered as coach, said she “really enjoyed working with all these exceptional kids” and was happy to see their success.

MATHCOUNTS attracts thousands of sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students to local sites throughout Ohio for a day of mathematics competition.  The program is designed to heighten each pupil’s awareness of the importance of math.
