65 Westerville Middle School Students Advance to District Science Fair

The Westerville Middle School Science Fair was held on Saturday, February 7, at Walnut Springs Middle School.  The event featured 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade students from Walnut Springs, Blendon, Heritage, Genoa and Emerson.  159 participants enthusiastically shared their passion for science with more than 40 judges.  There were 65 students who received the highest rating and qualified for the District Science Fair to be held at Columbus State Community College on March 21. 

Pupils receiving the highest score in the team division were Genoa Middle School 8th grade students Ilayda Sen and Yalini Ramamoorthy.  Also, of the 105 individual projects, Adriane Thompson, a 7th grader from Genoa, scored the highest rating.  Brendan Smucker (Walnut Springs 6th grader) and Max Rojanasakdakul (Emerson Elementary School 5th grader) received the Rookie of the Year awards.  In addition, Noel Orioli and Rebecca Morrison (Walnut Springs 7th graders) won Most Creative Title with, “Go Organic or Go Home.”
