Bedtime Stories (as told by our dad) (who messed them up) by Ed Monk, leaves it up to dad to tell his three rambunctious kids their bedtime stories, but when he gets fuzzy on the details, the classics get creative.  A prince with a snoring problem spices up The Princess and the PeaThe Boy Who Cried Wolfe cries dinosaur instead; and Rumpelstiltskin helps turn all that pesky gold into straw. You may think you know your fairy tales, but not the way Dad tells them!

The Rehearsal, by Don Zolidis, will have people laughing as a young teacher tries to pull off a production of Guys and Dolls.  But putting a musical together is never easy, especially with a megalomaniacal stage manager, a lead who is convinced that Wicked is a much better show, and by the way, where are all the “guys”?  A hilarious and poignant look behind the scenes of a drama club production filled with – what else? – lots of drama!

Dear Chuck is an authentic portrayal of how teenagers are typically caught in the middle – they are not quite adults, but they are definitely no longer children.  Through a series of scenes and monologues, we meet an eclectic group of teen characters who are trying to communicate with that wannabe special someone, coping with the loss of a classmate, battling controlling parents, swimming for that island of calm in the stormy see of technology – and more.  What they all have in common is the search for their “Chuck”, that elusive moment of knowing who they are. This award-winning story by esteemed playwright Jonathan Dorf is a treasure for young actors in middle school or high school looking for a poignant play full of compelling characters.

Nearly 100 drama club members have come together to create an evening of amazing story-telling and are grateful for the help and guidance they have received from high school students who are members of Westerville South Theatre’s Troupe 513.  Additional thanks goes to South Theatre Director Matthew Wolfe and Technical Director Derrick McPeak for their encouragement and support to everyone involved in making this performance possible.
