The Bette Marschall Memorial Education Fund of The Columbus Foundation has awarded nine grants totaling $2,453 to the following Westerville City Schools employees.
- $500 to Tami Santa, Student Assistance Programs, to purchase t-shirts for participants in the MODEL girls mentoring program at the district’s three middle schools
- $250 to Kimberly Beracierto, Walnut Springs Middle School, to help buy supplies for “Walnutpalooza,” a family event that showcases the school’s diversity
- $155 to Sarah Painter, Special Education Transition Coordinator at Westerville North High School, to acquire copies of the book Wonder, to be used by their book club, which promotes inclusion and acceptance
- $40 to Matt Esh, Westerville South High School, to obtain custom-made ribbons to motivate, reward, and inspire his students
- $75 to Alexandria Austria, Walnut Springs Middle School, to purchase books to establish a book club with the purpose of exploring inclusion, justice and diversity
- $455 to Shannon Goebler, Emerson Elementary School, to buy classroom books and to help defray costs of attending a live performance at the Columbus Children’s Theatre, as part of an integrated unit of study
- $408 to Kristine Konik, Heritage Middle School, to acquire books as a basis for focus groups that are meant to develop community and empathy
- $150 to Ben Hartnell, Westerville North High School, to obtain materials for his classroom that help bring history alive for his students
- $420 to Katrina Taylor, Westerville South High School, to purchase equipment for use in an interdisciplinary unit on the connections between mathematics and music
