Blendon Middle School student Lee Trimble recently installed the last of five Little Free Libraries at Hanby Magnet School, in order to fulfill the community service requirement needed to participate in his school’s quarterly Renaissance celebration.  Lee and his brother, Jack (a Westerville South High School pupil), helped install four other Little Free Libraries this past summer at  Mark Twain Elementary, McVay Elementary, Wilder Elementary and Walnut Springs Middle School.  Their mother, Walnut Springs librarian Jean Trimble, received a $2,900 grant from author James Patterson and Scholastic Reading Club to purchase all five libraries. Since 2015, Patterson has donated $3.5 million of his own money to save under-funded school libraries nationwide.
