Blendon Middle School students celebrated the 4th Quarter 2016-2017 Renaissance Awards program by enjoying an afternoon of swimming at the Jaycee Pool on August 29.  Pupils had to meet stringent goals in academic achievement, community service, attendance, attitude, and school spirit, in order to qualify.  As an extra-special bonus, Skyline Chili served free chili cheese dogs to all students for lunch at the pool.

Each quarter, qualifying youngsters receive a certificate for their accomplishment.  In addition, they have the chance to win a variety of wonderful raffle prizes, including Renaissance t-shirts, gift cards from Cheryl’s Cookies, Cold Stone Creamery, Dairy Queen, Donato’s Pizza, Little Caesar’s Pizza, Old Skool Skateboards, On the Border Mexican Cantina, and former Blendon parent Carla Tedeschi.  The Grand Prize was a Kindle Fire Tablet and cover.

Following the awards presentation, students spent the rest of the day “chilling” at the Jaycee Pool, courtesy of the Blendon PTO.  Kona Ice was served, too, to help students cool down after a fun day of swimming.

The 2016-2017 school year completes the 7th year for the Blendon Renaissance Awards Program, which would not be possible without the continued support of local and national businesses, parents, staff, and the Blendon PTO.
