271 Blendon Middle School students qualified for 2nd Quarter 2016-2017 Renaissance Awards. They celebrated January 25 by enjoying an afternoon of bowling at Gahanna Lanes. To earn this reward, pupils must meet high standards in academics, community service, attendance, attitude, and school spirit.
Each quarter, at an awards ceremony, qualifying students receive both a certificate for their accomplishment and a tangible reward, donated by various local businesses. For the second quarter Blendon Renaissance Awards Program, each youngster got coupons from First Watch, Raising Canes Chicken, Skyline Chili, Gahanna Lanes, Texas Roadhouse, and Little Caesar’s Pizza.
The celebration continued with the raffling of a variety of prizes donated by local businesses and PTO parents, including Renaissance t-shirts from Blendon Principal Kendall Harris, and gift cards from Cheryl’s Cookies, Chiller Ice Rink, Cold Stone Creamery, Columbus Square Bowling Palace, Dairy Queen, Donato’s Pizza, Little Caesar’s, Old Skool Skateboards, On The Border Mexican Cantina, Westerville Recreation Center, and parent Carla Tedeschi. The Blendon PTO also donated free admission to the next school dance, along with pizza, drinks, chips and Kona Ice to 10 lucky students. The Grand Prize was a VIP Car Pass for six people from African Safari Wildlife Park.
Following the awards presentation, students spent the rest of the day enjoying bowling, miniature golf, and video arcade games at Gahanna Lanes Bowling.
The 2016-2017 school year begins the 7th year for the Blendon Renaissance Awards Program, which would not be possible without the continued support of local and national businesses, Blendon parents, and the Blendon PTO.
