Because of their academic and community service achievements, a total of 289 Blendon students recently qualified for 1st Quarter 2016-2017 Renaissance Awards.  On Thursday, November 10, they got to enjoy an afternoon of skating at Skate Zone 71.  Pupils must meet high standards in academics, community service, attendance, attitude, and school spirit in order to participate.

Each quarter, at an awards ceremony, qualifying students receive both a certificate for their accomplishment and a tangible reward donated by PTO parents and local businesses.  For the first quarter Blendon Renaissance Awards Program, each youngster got coupons from First Watch, Texas Roadhouse, Gahanna Lanes, Skyline Chili, and Little Caesar’s Pizza.

Blendon students continued to celebrate with a variety of wonderful raffle prizes including Renaissance t-shirts from Blendon Principal Kendall Harris; and gift cards from Cheryl’s Cookies, Chiller Ice Rink, Cold Stone Creamery, Dairy Queen, Donato’s Pizza, Fazoli’s Italian Restaurant, Graeter’s Ice Cream, Little Caesar’s, Noodles & Company, Old Skool Skateboards, On The Border Mexican Cantina, Soccer Plus, Westerville Recreation Center, and former student Christopher Tedeschi.  The Grand Prize was a $50 gift card from Star Lanes Bowling.

Following the awards presentation, students spent the rest of the day enjoying skating, laser tag, and video games at Skate Zone 71.

The 2016-2017 school year marks the beginning of the 7th year for the Blendon Renaissance Awards Program, which would not be possible without the continued support of local and national businesses, Blendon parents, and the Blendon PTO.
