Blendon Middle School students celebrated the 4th Quarter 2015-2016 Renaissance Awards program by enjoying an afternoon of swimming at the Jaycee Pool on August 30.  To qualify, pupils had to meet stringent goals in academic achievement, community service, attendance, attitude, and school spirit.

Each quarter, at an awards ceremony, qualifying students receive both a certificate for their accomplishment and a tangible reward donated by various local businesses. This time, each youngster got coupons from First Watch, Skyline Chili, Little Caesar’s Pizza, Texas Roadhouse and Gahanna Lanes Bowling.  In addition, 8th grade gold students received two-for-one admission tickets to Marcus Theatres.

Prizes were also raffled, which were donated by local businesses Blendon PTO and PTO parents.  They included Renaissance t-shirts and gift cards from City BBQ, Cold Stone Creamery, Dairy Queen, Donato’s Pizza, Fazoli’s Italian Restaurant, Little Caesar’s Pizza, Marcus Theatres, Old Skool Skateboards, On-The-Border, and Westerville Recreation Center.  The Grand Prize was a VIP Car Pass to African Safari Wildlife Park.

Following the awards presentation, students spent the rest of the day “chilling” at the Jaycee Pool, courtesy of the Blendon PTO, and enjoying Skyline Chili cheese dogs and Kona Ice.

The 2016-2017 school year marks the 7th year for the Blendon Renaissance Awards Program, which would not be possible without the continued support of businesses, Blendon parents, staff, and the PTO.
