The Development Board of Nationwide Children’s Hospital is proud to partner with Westerville City Schools in an effort to raise awareness and funds for pediatric research.  The 5th Annual Great Columbus Duck Race and Run is a fundraising event put on by the Development Board at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.  The money raised from the event supports The Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.  This year’s event will be held Saturday, August 20th at Creekside in Gahanna.  The event has a 5&10K race, kids duck dash, plenty of children’s activities, a live band and culminates with a rubber duck race, with over 10,000 ducks!

Westerville City Schools is seeking a student who has been, or is currently, a patient at Nationwide Children’s Hospital to serve as the district’s patient champion for the event.  As the Westerville City School District patient champion, the Development Board will work with School officials to share your child’s story in coordination with Duck Race material with the parents of Westerville City School children.  The effort will include social media postings, emails, and an online and in school fundraising component.  The increased awareness and dollars raised from this effort will go directly to The Research Institute.  Your child will also be featured at the event along with the other children who have been selected from other districts.  While we would love for you and your family to attend this great event, we understand if you’re unable to attend.

If you would like to have your child be cosidered as the Westerville City Schools patient champion as part of the Great Columbus Duck Race & Run program, please Cindy Laux at cynthia.laux@nationwidechildrens.org  by Friday, May 6.
