Blendon Jazz Students Learn from the Pros

Beautiful music filled the halls of Blendon Middle School on Thursday afternoon, January 21.  Six members of the Jazz Arts Group (JAG) of Columbus performed for students in the gymnasium and if that wasn’t amazing enough, they stuck around for two hours after the show to work with members of the school’s jazz band.

JAG is America’s oldest non-for-profit arts organization dedicated to producing, performing and promoting jazz.  The group divides its resources among two areas – performance and education.  JAG serves as an “umbrella” organization to the Columbus Jazz Orchestra, performance activities at the Lincoln Theatre, the Jazz Academy, and the JAG Affiliate musicians program.

JAG believes in the power of music to transform lives and is committed to offering lifelong learning opportunities for individuals of all ages, interests, backgrounds and abilities.  Their memorable appearance at Blendon was possible because of a generous grant from the Westerville Education Foundation, which was supplemented by the Blendon PTO.
