Blendon Middle School students got the opportunity to tour Worthington Cylinders on Wednesday, November 4.

Worthington Cylinders generously opened its doors this week to eighth grade students in the Westerville City School District who have expressed interest in engineering as a potential career path.  Selected pupils from all four middle schools – Blendon, Genoa, Heritage, and Walnut Springs – participated in a two-hour tour of the facility, where they had the opportunity to ask questions and learn from the staff at Worthington Cylinders.  Students chosen for this field experience also spent time with middle school teams to develop a brief presentation about what was learned, to be shared with current seventh grade Engineering & Design peers.

Gary Walzer, with OH!Manufacturing, coordinated the tours with Westerville City Schools and Worthington Cylinders.  This fall, the Ohio Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) has worked to connect schools with local manufacturing facilities to provide field experiences so students can see manufacturing in action and learn about the various types of jobs and careers available.

Worthington Cylinders, a global leader with more than 35 years in cylinder manufacturing, is a Worthington Industries company. With annual sales of more than $3 billion and over 80 locations world-wide, Worthington Industries is a trusted and respected leader in metals manufacturing.
