The entire staff at Wilder Elementary School wore t-shirts to remind everyone to Start with Hello.

Last week, Wilder Elementary participated in a Start with Hello initiative to encourage students to connect with their peers at school and in their community.  A variety of activities took place.  Each morning on the announcements, pupils read greetings in their home language.  Languages represented include Russian, Tagalong, Mandarin, and Somali.  Teachers also used resources such as BrainPop to show video clips and led discussions about the importance of kindness and inclusion.  The Trail Blazers (student leaders) created a video message with skits and reasons why they start with hello.  Staff wore their “Start with Hello” t-shirts and students wore green to commemorate the special week.  The entire school community also made a banner with handprints.  Wilder staff and students hope to incorporate lessons learned last week throughout the school year.
