On Thursday evening, January 26, the Wilder Elementary School staff hosted a “Homework Help for Parents” event.  Based on survey results in the fall, parents said they wanted to learn more about how to help their children be successful with homework.  Teachers organized the program to address parent support in the areas of literacy, mathematics, and technology in the following ways:

  • Developmentally appropriate strategies, including interest inventories and mindfulness activities and exercises, for supporting the “Habits of a Successful Learner” as outlined on the achievement record;
  • Sessions on technology programs and devices that enhance a child’s learning; and
  • Resources and materials distributed to families for at-home learning support.

Each child left with a goody bag of snacks and school supplies.
