Westerville City School District (WCSD) officials wish to remind students and parents about the upcoming spring 2017 testing schedule.  Testing highlights for this spring include:

ELEMENTARY/MIDDLE SCHOOL

During the month of April, all students in grades K-8 will be assessed in English Language Arts and Mathematics.  Science will be assessed in grades 5 and 8, and Social Studies in grades 4 and 6.  All Ohio’s State Tests administered in grades 3-8 are taken online.

HIGH SCHOOL

Students scheduled to graduate in 2017 are required to take and pass the Ohio Graduation Test (OGT) in Reading, Mathematics, Writing, Science, and Social Studies.  The OGT will be a paper/pencil exam administered in March.

Students scheduled to graduate in 2018 and beyond who were previously or currently enrolled in English I, English II, Algebra 1, Geometry, Biology, American History, and/or American Government will take Ohio’s State Tests End-of-Course (EOC) assessments in April.  However, students taking International Baccalaureate (IB) or Advanced Placement (AP) American Government do not have to take the American Government State test if they are taking the IB or AP exam test in late April/May.  All seven high school EOC assessments will be taken online.  Students who have previously scored a 1 or 2 on a given test are encouraged to re-take the test to earn additional points. Additional information on requirements for students to graduate in 2018 and beyond is available online at http://tinyurl.com/WCSassessmentupdateAug2016.

For the first time, all high school juniors (Graduation Cohort 2018) will take the ACT free of charge on April 19, 2017.  The ACT will remain a paper/pencil test.  District personnel will be working with staff to register students for this opportunity.

Summer Testing Opportunity: Students taking courses during the summer in one of the seven tested subjects are encouraged to take the corresponding State EOC on July 18 at 7:45 a.m. in the media center at Westerville Central High School.  Students who have previously taken an EOC and scored a 1 or 2 may re-take the assessment on either July 17 or 18 beginning at 7:45 am in the WCHS media center.
