On December 8, Wilder Elementary hosted the “Hot Chocolate Holiday Event.” Fifth grade girls were invited to participate with their mothers or another female role model in their lives. The 22 girls, in addition to their special guests, were welcomed with a hot chocolate bar, cookies, popcorn, and other holiday treats. At the event, Elizabeth Wolfgang, school counselor, led the group in an activity about the importance of friendship and how we maintain healthy relationships. Principal Dr. Victoria Hazlett gave each girl who attended the book, Girl’s Handbook to Friendship by Fiona Foder. Michele Bertus, intervention specialist, also helped to plan the event. Jennifer Hubble and Debbie Miller, fifth grade teachers, and LaTresa Rieves, instructional coach, attended. The girls and their guests and staff members enjoyed an evening of fellowship and fun. Special thanks to the Wilder PTA for providing the books and refreshments for the event.
