Kindergarten and first grade students at Whittier Elementary School performed in a rainforest musical called Singin’ in the Rainforest on Thursday, March 23. The show was an upbeat exploration of the rainforest from the forest floor to the canopy, including musical numbers about toucans, red-eye tree frogs, Blue Morpho butterflies, spider monkeys, and boa constrictors.
In preparation for the concert, the children learned fun facts about each animal and worked with art teacher Liz Bash to create animal masks as part of their costumes. The youngsters were directed by music teacher Evan McIntyre and student teacher Riley Bivens.
