Evan McIntyre directed Whittier pupils, who enthusiastically performed a number of classic jazz numbers.
Fourth grade students at Whittier Elementary presented an upbeat recorder and choral showcase titled An Evening of Jazz on Wednesday, April 27. Part of the performance included pieces from the Recorder Karate curriculum, featuring songs inspired by jazz and the musicians who made it great. In preparation for the concert, the youngsters learned a variety of musical numbers and choreography, including a medley of songs by the Gershwins and standards made famous by Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington.
