Second grade students at Whittier Elementary School presented a concert on December 16 entitled A Winter Spectacular, a wonderful celebration of the beauty of the season and joys of spending time with family. Part of the show included an audience sing-along, consisting of seasonal standards. In preparation, pupils learned a variety of musical numbers and choreography, including a rap about turkeys, a song of peace, and a jazzy carol. They also helped create decorations for the performance, including a beautiful paperchain backdrop. The program featured children dancing with scarves, canes and ugly sweaters, as well as playing tone chimes, boomwhackers, and percussion instruments. The memorable event was directed by music teacher Evan McIntyre.
