The 10th Annual Elementary Leadership Summit occurred on Friday, November 13 at Westerville Central High School.  More than 140 third, fourth and fifth grade students from all Westerville elementary schools were in attendance.  Participants were selected based on essays, projects or interviews they completed earlier in the school year.

Leadership participants spent the day learning about the characteristics that make a good leader and completing team building exercises.  Westerville Central High School student leaders assisted participants with the day’s events.

Guest speaker Steve Cox, Program Director for i9 Sports, spoke to students about why leadership was so important, his own journey and the characteristics that leaders need to possess.  The day concluded with performances from Westerville Central’s Vocal Jazz Ensemble group, along with music from their Pep Band.

Participants of the Leadership Summit will work with advisors at their building on a service project that benefits their school or the larger community.  In the spring, the students will convene and share the results of their project.

The Elementary Leadership Summit was made possible through donations from HR Imaging Partners, Inc. and i9 Sports.
