Lieutenant Doug Walters, firefighter Mike Melfi and firefighter Shane Schifer speak with enthusiastic first graders about vehicles used to fight fires. Melfi also showed students what firefighters look like when their dressed in full gear.

Thanks to personnel from Westerville Fire Station 113 on North Spring Road, first grade students at Robert Frost Elementary School got an up close look at a fire truck on Tuesday, October 12.  Inspector Jeff Lear (“Fireman Jeff”) and the E-113 Crew brought a truck to school, and also demonstrated what a firefighter looks like while wearing full gear, encouraging the children not to “run and hide” from him/her should an emergency situation arise.  Fire safety lessons were imparted in a way that will not soon be forgotten.  The Robert Frost staff expressed appreciation to the firefighters for providing an exceptional learning opportunity.
