Dave Yost, Auditor of the State of Ohio, visited the Westerville City School District on Tuesday morning, September 22, to present the Treasurer’s Department with an Award with Distinction for excellence in financial reporting for their Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the Fiscal Year Ended 2014.  Inscribed on the plaque are the words, “Your exemplary reporting serves as the standard for clean, accountable government, representing the highest level of service to Ohioans.”  Bart Griffith is the District’s Treasurer/Chief Financial Officer and Laura Hendricks is the Assistant Treasurer.

Yost said, “Clean and accurate record-keeping are the foundation for good government, and the taxpayers can take pride in your commitment to accountability.”  The Auditor of State Award with Distinction is given to those entities that file an annual CAFR and timely financial reports in accordance with GAAP, as well as receive a “clean” audit report, meaning that the district’s financial audit did not contain findings for recovery, material citations, material weaknesses, significant deficiencies, single audit findings, or any questioned costs.

Griffith credited his team for doing a wonderful job, along with all of the district’s secretaries, Food Service staff, athletics personnel and everyone else who works on the business side of school operations.  “Without everyone doing their part, this award would not be possible,” he said.
