Wonders of Westerville will take on Harlem Wizards February 6

The Fabulous Harlem Wizards Basketball Extravaganza is coming to Westerville on Monday, February 6.  The game will be held at Westerville Central High School (located at 7118 Mt. Royal Avenue) starting at 6:30 p.m. Doors open at 5:30.  This year the Westerville City School District is hosting the Wizards team called SWOOP and excitement is building to see their dancing and hilarious hoop skills. 

SWOOP will be pitted against the Wonders of Westerville, who have a Facebook page.  Team members about to dribble their way to fame are: 

  • Julie Moytka (Eastwind Preschool);
  • Adam Rex, Tom Cook and Tami Santa (Academic Enrichment Center);
  • Ben Hartnell (Westerville North);
  • Jacob Cullen (Blendon);
  • Allie Rawson (Genoa);
  • Carmon Dobbins (Heritage);
  • Dustin Lee (Cherrington);
  • Ashley Rable, George Victory and Chris Blados (Huber Ridge);
  • Eric Heminger (McVay);
  • Amanda Oakes and Ben Ashwill (Pointview);
  • Jason Faust (Whittier);
  • Michael Spatafore (Wilder);
  • Lula Barnes (Hanby Welcome Center);
  • Kyle Rawson (community member); and
  • Duane Gourley (Transportation.) 

Presale tickets cost $8 for students and $10 for adults.  The prices go up at the door. Courtside Plus tickets are $30 and provide many perks.  These are only available in advance with a ticket order form and are not available online.    

This great family-friendly event is sponsored by the Libraries for Liberia Foundation, led by Westerville City Schools computer tech Zuulu Cooper.  Proceeds from merchandise sales will also go to the District’s English as a Second Language Department.
