Following extensive renovations and a large addition, Pointview Elementary School will never again be described as dark and drab.

The first day of school is always met with excitement by elementary students.  Nowhere was that more evident this year than at Pointview, where pupils squealed with delight as they walked through the front doors to discover their building had been transformed into a bright and shining place to learn.

The design inspiration was the water tower out back which, when silhouetted by the rising sun, looks like a lighthouse.   “Just as a lighthouse shines its light to navigate ships safely along the journey at sea, our vision was to create an environment that will help guide students along their educational journey,” said Jeff LeRose, Executive Director of Facilities & Operations for Westerville City Schools.  The new addition of just over 14,000 square feet (representing roughly 39 percent of the current square footage of 37,000), is symbolic of a ship that has found its way back home.  Phase 4 was completed just in time for the start of school.  Students and staff are already enjoying much needed natural light, something some have never experienced before in the classroom.  Also getting rave reviews are the variety of colors throughout the building, an updated clinic, new classroom furniture, storage areas, and walls that make it easier to concentrate.
