A kindergarten student enjoyed viewing the world through special goggles which enabled her to see like animals see. Vision, she learned, is an adaptation with each organism’s eyes suited perfectly to its survival.
Students at Pointview Elementary School were excited on January 15 when COSI on Wheels brought its new Exploring Ecology program to the building. An interactive assembly was followed by a multitude of hands-on activities designed to encourage the development of science process skills. Pupils got the opportunity to learn how animals use camouflage to survive in their habitat; explore life cycles of different animals; study the impact of changes to plants and animals; and discover how different creatures see the world. The event was hosted by the school’s PTA, with much-appreciated volunteers helping at each station set up in the gymnasium.
