ESL Parents New to the Westerville School District are Invited to August 11 Meeting

Westerville City Schools will host a meeting from 6:30 – 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11, for English as a Second Language parents who are new to the district.  It will take place in the Board Training Room of the Early Learning Center, which is located at 936 Eastwind Avenue in Westerville.  Topics covered will include:

  • School calendar;
  • Open house and curriculum nights;
  • Transportation and bus behavior;
  • Lunch information (including free and reduced lunch);
  • Vaccinations;
  • School attendance and tardies;
  • School dress code;
  • Achievement records/report cards; and
  • Lockers and security buzzers.

Representatives from the District’s Food Service and Transportation Services departments will be present to assist parents with information and questions relating to school lunches and bus transportation.

Last school year, this district hosted quarterly meetings of this nature.  This year, to accommodate parent schedules, Westerville Schools will hold sessions monthly, one during the day (at OhioHealth) and one during the evening (at the Early Learning Center).  Meeting dates, times and topics will be announced.  Interpreters will be present to assist at every gathering.
