Just because it’s summer doesn’t mean the work stops in Westerville City Schools. While some may anticipate a slower pace once the school year ends, employees at the district’s Enrollment & Family Resource Center actually hope for a significant increase to their workload and the number of enrollment applications they process over the summer months.

“We want families who have just moved into our district to know that we are open and ready to help enroll their children in our schools,” said Executive Assistant Karen Gabay. “They don’t have to wait until August to begin the process. In fact, enrolling new students earlier in the summer will benefit families by saving them time, reducing stress that can occur if they wait to enroll until the last minute, and minimizing the potential for unanticipated delays in the process.”

Gabay added that families typically have more flexibility during the summer to set and keep appointments with Enrollment Center staff.

“A critical part of the enrollment process requires families to bring us specific documents that prove their children are eligible to enroll in our schools,” Gabay explained. “We know families are busy, but those who come to us during the summer to complete this process typically have a bit more flexibility and, most importantly, more time to compile everything we need to complete the process.”

Also making things easier for families is the ability to provide much of the required information through an online student registration system. Families who are ready to enroll their children in the district may visit the district’s homepage at  www.wcsoh.org and click on the green enrolling tab to begin the process. The enrollment website also includes details about the types of documents and medical records that families must take to the Enrollment Center to complete the process.

“Entering a new school should be an exciting time for children, and we also want families to have a positive experience when enrolling their children,” Gabay said. “The earlier those families can begin the process, the better. We look forward to welcoming them into our schools.”

The Westerville City Schools Enrollment & Family Resource Center is located in Suite 3200 of the OhioHealth medical building, 300 Polaris Parkway. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Anyone with questions about the enrollment process may visit the district’s website at www.wcsoh.org. They also may contact the Enrollment Center by e-mail at welcome@wcsoh.org or by phone at 614-797-7700.
