Last January, the family of the late Dr. George Tombaugh announced that they would be holding an annual family 5K and fun run to honor the former Westerville City Schools superintendent’s legacy. Event proceeds will be used to sustain the Dr. George Tombaugh Fund, which supports the Westerville Education Foundation’s competitive grants program.

Given current health restrictions in place, organizers recently shared that the Dr. Tombaugh Dash – Family 5K & Fun Run will be a virtual event. On Father’s Day morning, which is June 21 and the original event date, the race and fun run will be kicked off live via a virtual event on Zoom. The registration fee has been lowered to $25 per participant, and fun run registration (recommended for ages eight and under) is just $5. Anyone interested in taking part in the event can sign up at https://runsignup.com/drtombaughdash.

In the absence of a large, onsite event, organizers have also simplified sponsorship opportunities. For a $100 contribution, sponsors will receive their logo on the race site, repeated social media mentions, and a shout out at the virtual kick-off event (email katy@wellnesscollective.com for information). Sponsors will also be mentioned in ongoing event publicity efforts. Individuals interested in simply making a donation to support this cause may do so at the event website referenced above.
