McVay Principal for a Day Izzy Studebaker received a commendation from Westerville Mayor Craig Treneff while Acting Principal Amy Miller looked on.
Fifth grade McVay Elementary School student Izzy Studebaker got to serve as honorary Principal for a Day on March 1 because of her stellar fundraising efforts during the walk-a-thon. Studebaker brought in $562.05 out of more than $10,000 that was raised by the student body. The money will be used to purchase new playground equipment.
Studebaker shadowed her former principal, Amy Miller, that day. She toured the building and visited most rooms; was responsible for documenting contacts and activities; observed a new IPad program called OSMO in the English as a Second Language classroom; and wrote thank you notes to the PTA for purchasing the program. She also worked with one student on problem solving skills, and hosted a lunch with colleagues. Westerville Mayor Craig Treneff stopped by to give her commendation. “I did not make her do bus duty,” laughed Miller. “This was especially fun for me as I had Izzy when I was at McVay! She is a promising leader.”
