Kindergarten students in Alex Tresoline’s classroom at McVay Elementary School decided they wanted to do a service-learning project that involved helping animals.  So for six weeks, during their spare time, they made necklaces using donated buckeyes and supplies, and then sold them to their families, fellow pupils, and staff at McVay.  They ended up raising an astonishing $745.

The recipient of these funds was RESCUEDohio, which held a special check presentation event at PetPeople on Maxtown Road December 15, to celebrate the efforts of these youngsters.  Adoptable dogs were present, along with rescue volunteers, pupils and their families.  “My students were thrilled with their efforts and even happier knowing that they got to meet some of the dogs this donation will be helping,” said Tresoline, who adopted a pet recently from the organization, and who volunteers there as well.

The mission of RESCUEDohio is to help find homes for unwanted and abandoned dogs and to advocate for the rights of all animals everywhere.  Learn more at www.rescuedohio.org.
