McVay Elementary School is completing its annual One School One Book adventure, featuring the novel The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane.  As part of this experience, students, staff and family members enjoyed Family Literacy Night on Thursday, February 2.  Dozens of children and their families showed up at school wearing pajamas and bringing cozy blankets in anticipation of snuggling up and enjoying some good clean fun.  A local storyteller kicked off the evening in the gymnasium, performing around a mock fire.  Her performance was followed by the distribution of a s’more snack mix treat.  Then, kids and parents got to visit a number of activity stations including progressive writing, flashlight reading, book raffles, bookmark making, face painting, book talks from the Westerville Public Library, and a Book Fair.  Kiwanians were also present to give each child a book to take home.   Attendees appeared to enjoy the spirited evening designed to promote literacy.
