Happiness is a warm blanket.  Especially when it’s made with love.  When families arrive at The Ronald McDonald House at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, they receive both a welcome bag and a welcome blanket.  Some of those blankets were made by McVay Elementary School students and their families, who put them together at home or with friends during recess.  “Community Service teaches our students various lessons such as awareness, compassion, respect, responsibility, gratitude and empowerment,” said Heather Smalley, the Instructional Coach who coordinated the effort.  “These are all qualities that the staff at McVay feel are important for students to have.”
