Annehurst educator Dee Stewart has been chosen as D.A.R.E. Ohio’s 2016 Educator of the Year.  She teaches fifth grade reading and social studies at the Westerville elementary school.

Stewart was nominated for the honor by her principal, Earl Rahm, who said she “exemplifies the meaning of incorporating the D.A.R.E. values into her students.  She not only has worked with our D.A.R.E. program for the past two years, but she also ties the curriculum into her teaching and conversations with students.”

Stewart worked closely with Officer Carrie O’Neill to create a schedule that maximizes time focusing on the D.A.R.E curriculum and requirements, while not losing valuable time to teach the content standards.

D.A.R.E. Educators of the Year are selected for going above and beyond what is expected in the classroom; and for being supportive of the D.A.R.E. concept by the things they do during school hours and at after-school activities.
