Knights of Columbus representative Scott Muehlbauer visited the administrative offices of the Westerville City School District on October 15 to present a check in the amount of $3,789.18 to the Special Education Department. This generous donation will enable the District to support the equine-assisted learning and therapy program, which is provided through PBJ Connections.
PBJ Connections works with students who are struggling behaviorally. Sessions focus on communication, grief, anger management and behavioral regulation. Middle and high school pupils meet twice a month for 10 months. Attendance has improved for those participating, along with a decrease in unacceptable behavior. Westerville City Schools reports positive progress for those enrolled in this equine therapy program.
The Knights of Columbus have supported Special Education activities in the district for many years. Superintendent John Kellogg said, “We are extremely grateful for this incredible partnership, which has greatly enhanced opportunities for our students.”
