On Thursday evening, August 2, families in the Abbey Lane apartment complex gathered outdoors in the common area to enjoy a potluck dinner hosted by the Mark Twain Elementary School staff.  The addition of face painting and emoji tattoos contributed to the festive atmosphere.  Officers from the Columbus Police Department were also present to answer questions and provide an up-close look at their cruisers and bicycles.  Using much-appreciated donations from friends and family, teachers organized the event with the primary goal of welcoming families back to school and letting the community know that all are welcome and valued at Mark Twain.
