On Tuesday evening, February 21, at the Westerville City Council Meeting, Westerville Central High School assistant head custodian Dominic Carpenter received a Civilian Service Award from the Westerville Division of Police.  The formal recognition was given in gratitude for his heroic actions on December 29, when he assisted a local police officer in apprehending a carjack suspect in his neighborhood.  Carpenter’s plaque said, “In thanks and appreciation for your dedication to the personal welfare of others.”  It was signed by Dave Collingsworth, City Manager, and Joe Morbitzer, Chief of Police.   Carpenter received a standing ovation.
