The previously planned Westerville City Schools 14th annual LEGO Competition has been converted to a virtual event as a result of school facilities being closed in April. The Westerville North Academic Boosters has teamed with the Ohio LEGO User Group (OhioLUG) to provide an event that will enable students to build their design over the last two weeks of April. Additionally, students will have the option of receiving free online feedback from members of the OhioLUG midway through the event to help them with their builds. Appropriate safeguards are in place to ensure that participant names/images are not shared online or with members of the OhioLUG.

The competition is open to elementary and middle school students from Westerville City Schools and St. Paul School. Competitors can build anything they want, as long as they design it themselves. No pre-packaged LEGO sets are permitted to be built. Prizes will be awarded, and all participants will be entered into a drawing for a family 4-pack of tickets to the Great Westerville Pumpkin Glow 2020. Judging of final entries will occur on May 3. In addition to the OhioLUG judging, participants will have the opportunity to vote on People’s Choice awards for each grade level.

Registration costs $10, and registrations will be accepted through Wednesday, April 29, 2020. However, students wishing to receive the optional feedback must register and submit initial photographs of their build by Wednesday, April 22, 2020. All proceeds benefit the Westerville North Academic Boosters. Participants who already registered for the original April 18th event do not need to register again. New participants may register by going to https://tinyurl.com/WCSLEGO2020.
