Founded in 1970, The Alpha Group continues to provide programs and services to individuals with developmental disabilities in Delaware County. As a result of its steady growth over the years, including the recent opening of a new location within Westerville City School District (WCSD) boundaries, the non-profit organization also provides its services in 11 surrounding counties.

WCSD benefits from a partnership with The Alpha Group, through the Vocational Advisory Program. Alpha's transition coordinator meets weekly with students who are differently-abled at each of the district’s high schools. They discuss career exploration, the type of work they would like to do in the future, and practice job skills. Throughout the semester, local community employers come to the schools to mentor students and perform "mock interviews" to give them the chance to practice interview skills.

This summer, The Alpha Group will hold its signature fundraiser, the Zoom Duck Derby, to help fund the various programs and services that benefit WCSD students, as well as area residents with disabilities. The event is currently scheduled for Sunday, July 26, 2020, at Zoombezi Bay Water Park and features 5,000 rubber ducks racing down the venue’s lazy river.
