On Friday morning, March 22, employees in the Westerville City School District’s Early Learning Center had the opportunity to participate in Run, Hide, Fight training, hosted by School Resource Officers from the Westerville Division of Police.  SRO Matt Ware (Blendon) and Erin Peachey (Walnut Springs) led the activity, starting with a discussion and slide show designed to help attendees understand the dynamics of “active shooter” situations.  Topics included emergency protocol, Run, Hide, Fight, police response to “active shooter” situations, and prevention methods.  After the talk, employees practiced learned skills during simulated emergency events.  This type of proactive training has been given at a number of schools throughout the district.
